I Thought I Was Dead At The Door

It was another regular day, as I found myself working, delivering pizzas. I have given up on the fact that no matter how good your day could be going, still, something could go wrong, and it did.
First of all, let me say this, delivering pizzas is not as easy as some people might think that it is. You never know what is going to happen when you arrive at a customer’s location and when the delivery drivers have more than one order in their car, something is bound to happen. I put location because I deliver to not only residential houses, I go to hotels, motels, the airport, the mall, and office buildings. You think you know your local area of town? Go deliver some pizzas. In the year and a half that I have been delivering pizzas, I have learned where a lot of locations are now, that I was not aware of before I started working.
Also, I have discovered several new shortcuts to take on the roadways. I have also gotten lost numerous times. Some customers are not to be found anywhere when you arrive at where they say that they are. Most of the customers that order pizza are friendly at the door, but some people, I guess just want their food and that is it. I try my best to deliver fresh hot pizzas to people, but when the store is busy, it sure makes it difficult on the delivery drivers. I always hope for the best when I arrive at any of my locations when I am delivering pizzas. Plus I am as nice as I can possibly be at any of my customer's locations where ever that I may have to deliver a pizza too.
I get to my customer’s location, and when this man came to his door, he had a super duty vape cigarette and he exhaled as soon as the door opened, all of that vapor went right in my face. My first thought was, oh I am dead. This man just blew something on me and he is going to drag me inside and torture me and kill me. Just seconds later, I smelled some kind of a fruit smell and realized what the fog was that had met me at his front door. As soon as I noticed something coming at me, I immediately started waving one of my arms frantically, while still holding the customer's order with my other arm. I hope that I let that customer know that what he just did when he opened his front door to receive his food, that I did not appreciate it at all. I can not remember if this man's order was credit card or cash, but I was at his location longer than I needed to be because he had to vape on his electronic cigarette at his front door. Either way, I either had to get his signature if it was a credit card order, or if it was a cash order, I had to collect the money. Maybe he just did not realize what that he had done, or to his knowledge, he did nothing wrong at all. His house, his rules. His pizza or pizzas that he had ordered that day, was probably shaken up a bit.
Luckily, for my sake, it was just vape cigarette fog that greeted me in the face at the door that day. This happened several months ago, and still to this day, I cannot release that from my memory bank. This was one of the most freighting experiences that I have ran across delivering pizzas since I have been at my job for over a year now.

The Anime Convention

I find myself once again at work, delivering pizzas, only this time, it is the weekend and I am heading to a local Hotel in Town, little did I know, this was the first of many deliveries that I would have, to the same place in one night. Going to the same place multiple times on one shift does not happen that often. Knowing what location that you are going to before you leave the Store makes it one hundred percent easier for the delivery driver. Most of the delivery drivers at work use their smart phone to pull up Google Maps for directions. I personally, like to use my GPS device.
I arrive at the Hotel with my customers order, as I am driving up the roadway, people are everywhere outside walking, the place is packed out, I pull up in front of the Hotel as close to the door as I can, get out of my car and proceed inside of the Hotel. As I walk up to the sliding glass doors of the Hotel, people are everywhere outside, mingling, Taxi Cabs are parked all around, and I am hearing the Hotel’s music playing. So the sliding glass doors open up as I walked through them. Once inside, I stood in awe. My first thought was, Oh My God In Dear Heaven, I have just crossed over and went to the other side. I had just left the real world and just like that, I thought that I was in the spirit world. As I was standing there with my food order, thinking I was dead, I was seeing all kinds of people, but not like regular people would look like. I could not believe what I was seeing as I was standing in the front lobby of the Hotel. If I was not dead, I sure would have fainted by now. I saw Beetlejuice, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and all kinds of people that I did not even know.
There was real life Cartoon Characters that look amazingly real. As I was standing there, I finally realized that the local Hotel in Town was holding an anime convention. I bet I stood, frozen for at least twenty minutes before I realized what was going on. After that, I proceeded to the front desk of the Hotel to notify them that I had a pizza delivery for one of their guests that was staying there. At this point, I had no idea what my customer was going to look like. Wonder what the Hotel workers thought when I was just standing around in the lobby once I arrived there? So my customers arrive down to the lobby and guess who they were? The Powerpuff Girls.
I head directly back to the Store and notify the Manager on Duty at the time as of what was going on in the area for the weekend. He looked at me as if I had planned the whole weekend out. He knew exactly how busy we all were going to be over the weekend. The Anime Convention comes to town once a year at that particular Hotel. The pizza delivery drivers all love it when the anime convention rolls into our area of the world, as it keeps us all extremely busy. I made numerous visits that night to the Hotel and when I got in my car to leave, I seen Spongebob Square Pants running after me, and I did not turn around, I just kept going.

My Cell Phone Blew Off Of The Car At The Hotel

As I find myself delivering pizzas once again, I am up for the next delivery at work and it is to a very large country music venue hotel. The hotel is so massive that the delivery drivers from work are not allowed to go inside of the hotel to deliver a pizza. If we were to have to go inside of the hotel to make deliveries to customers, it would take probably thirty minutes or longer, waiting at the front desk for the customer to arrive to get their food. When that delivery to the hotel comes up, the delivery drivers just pull up to where the valet parking is and the customer comes outside to meet us.
I know the address for that certain hotel when it comes up on my receipt and I always call the customer and tell them to meet me at the valet parking on the outside of the hotel. Nine times out of ten, the customer is waiting for me when I arrive at the hotel. This particular time when I arrived at the hotel, my customer was nowhere to be found. I pulled over and parked where the taxi cabs were all lined up at the valet parking. I got out of my car, got the order, my ink pen, and my phone out of the car, and stood there to play the waiting game. Instead of putting my phone in one of my pockets that day, I put it on the top of my car while I was waiting. That was a bad idea. After a period of time, my customer finally arrives at the valet parking and picked up their food. All was well, I thought. So, I got back in my car and proceeded to my next stop which was a few miles down the road.
As I was driving to my next delivery, I heard the loudest noise. It was my phone blowing off of my car onto the roadway. At the time, I had no idea what the noise could have been, like I had run over something in the road. I immediately looked behind me in my rearview mirror. I did not see anything, so I kept going. I arrived at my next location and delivered the food to my customer. I headed on back to the store and went to get out of my car and realized that I had lost my phone. It had blown off of the top of my car. Not long after that, I got another delivery back to the same hotel. I thought when I got there, I would ask the valet people if they had found a phone. Once on location again, after I had delivered my pizza, I asked the valet people if anybody had found a phone and turned it in. They went to look in their lost and found, and no phone. I left the hotel and went the same route as earlier that night, driving slow in hopes of finding my phone. I did not find it. The next day, several of my family members went and looked for my phone, they all got out of their vehicles and walked around trying to find the phone, but it was nowhere to be found.
On my next day off from work, I went and purchased a new cell phone, and the best part about it was is that I got it on sale.
